Happy 2008 everyone!
Another year has gone and looking back on it now, 2007 was not very kind to me. I did more traveling than usual, which was fun, but overall it was still a bad year. Here's hoping 2008 will bring more fortune to my life, but I have doubts already...
Anyways, hope everyone is doing something fun to bring in the new year! Best wishes to you all :D |

Well I'm back from Hong Kong! It seems like I go there so often now, it doesn't even feel like vacation anymore...As usual, I'm suffering from some jet leg and on top of that, I'm sick (as is most people these days). I've been staying in bed for most of the past two days...which I'm fine with since I love my bed, haha. I hope everyone had a great Christmas! Mine was mediocre. Hong Kong already has a lot of people to begin with, but during Christmas it's like three times the usual amount! It was insane! I was literally sandwiched between massive crowds of Chinese people, and I had to cling to my bag extra hard to make sure nobody pick pocketed me @_@; I didn't get much gifts this year, but they were all very nice nonetheless :)
- Dark green Converse low-top sneakers
- Black t-shirt with gold smiley face on it (looks a lot cooler than described)
- Godiva chocolates
- Wrist pads for when using the computer
- Salvador Ferragamo cellphone strap
- Lavender scented oils (which I'm allergic to but didn't tell my friend because he didn't know and I didn't want to seem rude...)
I didn't buy a lot in Hong Kong either. One, because I have no money and two, because after being there so many times, you realize there's not that much to buy. Plus, Hong Kong fashion really isn't my style...it's very difficult to find things you actually like there. I did buy a lot of books and magazines though! Yes, I am a bookworm. I bought more books than clothes in fact, haha. Most of them are all art and fashion books/magazines <3 One of them is this big book on Art Deco illustrations and fashion during the 1920's. I absolutely adore that period, so the book is actually a great inspiration source for me!
I sort of want a new LJ name to kick off the new year...Just because my current LJ name doesn't seem to suit me anymore. I can't think of any new ones that I like though, hmm...Come to think of it, 2007 was a bit of bad year for me. I hope 2008 will be better. Although I have no plans for New Years Eve since most of my friends are still in Hong Kong and I'm not the drinking type, which is what most people do on NYE ;p Is it weird that I actually want school to start? I just like having something to keep me busy...I'm so bored! |

I've been in Hong Kong for about two weeks now. So far so good...but since the only entertainment around here is shopping, I'm actually pretty bored because I am poor and cannot afford anything I really like. *tear* Although it is fun to hang with my sister again! I haven't seen her for a good 3 months before I came here, so it's awesome having some sister-bonding time again, hehe. I do miss Vancouver though...mainly because I am a North American girl at heart and really do not like the Chinese people here. Not to mention the fact that I'm getting a slight allergic reaction to the bad air around here...I mean in Vancouver, the sky is gray because it's raining all the time, but in Hong Kong, the sky is gray because of the thick layer of pollution in the air. @_@;
While shopping with a guy friend yesterday, we passed by the Chanel store and saw like six guys in there walking around offering trays of chocolates, pastries, tea and hot chocolate to the shoppers. So, being the weirdos we are, me and my friend went in there pretending to actually be able to afford stuff in there, when really we just wanted the free food, LOL! The food was pretty good too...I mean, can't expect less from Chanel right? Haha~ And the funny thing is that in Hong Kong, if you speak English, people automatically think you're rich and awesome XD;
First term grades came out today. I did ok. Basically, I got a B average for all my courses, which I'm fine with since I don't actually try that hard in school...lol. Even though I have more courses next term, I think it will be better since for one, I don't have painting...which was so time-consuming and hard...and I have more fun courses like Photography and English!
Hm I think I'm going to watch The Golden Compass tomorrow. I'm already expecting it to not be as good as the book, but I'm still looking forward to the nice computer graphics and well, Daniel Craig XD; Hope everyone is having a great winter break so far! |

I'm finally done first term of school! And what's the best way to start of the winter holidays? By getting sick! That's right...I spent all of yesterday lying in bed and wishing I was dead...headache, stomachache, nausea, sore muscles, loss of appetite...you name it, I had it. Thankfully, I feel a little better today, but I'm still very out-of-it and have no mood to do anything. I'm going to Hong Kong this Saturday and usually, I would be pretty excited, but since I feel like absolute hell right now, I'm kind of just..not reacting to anything anymore. *Sigh*
I'm also having one of those "OMG what am I going to do after I graduate?!" type moments again. I mean, this first term of my third year went by sooo fast! And I have no idea what the hell I want to do...I just feel like I should have accomplished more at 20 years old.
Argh...looking at pictures my lucky friends who got to go to the premiere of the Spice Girls Reunion Concert on Facebook makes me jealous/sad! T_T

My painting class has a gallery show opening this week, so I spent all day today helping to set up. Yes, I am well aware that today is Sunday..so the fact that I was at school is just depressing, but oh well, it can't be helped. Who knew hanging paintings up on walls would take so much time...! Me and my classmates had to decide where to put the paintings, measure them, make sure they're straight, then hammer nails into the walls to hang them...takes a lot longer than one would imagine. There also wasn't enough gallery space to put everyone's work up, so everyone was only allowed to put two paintings, even though most people did a series of 3-5. I did a series of five...so mine looks really plain with three missing, haha~ Hopefully I can post some pictures up after our gallery opening on Tuesday, heh. |

I bit my lip THREE times on the SAME place while eating this week...Needless to say, I am in pain. *cries*
It's finally the last two weeks of school! Wow, time flies by fast...I can't believe I'm halfway through my 3rd year in university already! I'm starting to freak out...What am I going to do after I graduate? What if I can't find a job? What if I don't have enough money to pay back my student loans?! Oh god...
On a happier note, I'm going back to Hong Kong for Christmas!! Yay! I'm so excited because I'll be spending the holidays with just my sister (whoo! no parents!) and two of my very good friends who are also going. I've never been to HK during Christmas, but I hear they go really hardcore with the holiday lights and decorations, hehe! Look forward to a lot of pictures guys! |

Updates! Quite a bit has happened since I last posted, hehe:
1. My mom came back from Hong Kong a few days ago. It's awesome since I haven't seen her for over two months, and I have home-cooked meals again! Lol...seriously, during the time she was gone, I pretty much lived off Starbucks XP; She also brought back gifts for me, which is always awesome.
2. As a result of my mom coming back, I had to give Hillary back to the rescue agency. My mom is semi-allergic. I miss her already...I got pretty used to having a cat around the house, even though I didn't really like how my entire bed and most of the furniture in the house was covered in cat hair, lol. I really want/need a pet in the future X)
3. Does anyone still play RO? I stopped playing like years ago because it got changed to pay-to-play and plus my computer kept crashing when I opened it. BUT, I found out last week that a bunch of my guy friends actually play it on a free server and since I got a new laptop about half a year ago, there's nothing to stop me from getting addicted again! Hahaha~ Thus, I just spent a good hour earlier leveling up like crazy, mwahahhahaha...! Good times <3
4. Does anyone have some domain space they can spare me temporarily?? I have to make a website for my children's literature course and I need somewhere to host it ><" Like I said, it's only temporarily (a few weeks to maybe a month) and nobody will look at it except my classmates and prof. Please let me know asap if you don't mind helping me on this, since the website is due in two weeks and I gotta start working!
5. Lastly, I just wanted to wish everyone a belated Halloween! I hope you guys all did something fun. I, on the other hand, did the scariest thing anyone could possibly do on Halloween: homework! LOL...I don't like Halloween as much these days. It just seems like people care more about getting the sluttiest costumes and the most dangerous firecrackers than getting the candy and enjoying the holiday. Frankly, I prefer candy ;p

Say hello to Hillary! Isn't she cuuute?! She's not mine though. At least not forever, haha...I'm temporarily fostering her for the Vancouver Orphan Kitty Rescue Association. She's so adorable and well behaved! I picked her up today from her previous foster parent and totally dropped the bomb on my dad. He did not react well about it......He's not exactly a big fan of cats or any animal for that matter. I'm actually kind of scared he might kill my cat while I'm at school...I don't think I will keep Hillary for long though, just because my dad will never stop complaining. Hopefully someone will adopt her quick so she doesn't have to go to another foster :(
She really likes to sleep on my bed. Her previous foster parent warned me that she would complain a lot for food, which she really did...she keeps "meow-ing" every few minutes, but I'm suppose to ignore her and only feed her a certain amount so she won't get fat.
Oh and a happy happy wonderful birthday to longdefeat! <3 Hope you had a great one :D
OK, time to do some hwk...! There's a reason why I didn't get a pet before all this...they pose as a very big distraction, haha~ |

For the past three days, I think I've only gotten about five hours of sleep. Last night, I didn't sleep AT ALL, because I was finishing up a drawing project that took me much longer than I had anticipated. Needless to say, I went to school this morning feeling like death itself...I could barely hold up a decent conversation with my friend without pausing a lot because I couldn't even think well enough to come up with basic vocabulary. My brain was seriously reduced to its most basic fundamental stage where basically, my intelligence can be summed up with "sky, blue; drugs, bad."
I can't wait till October is over. Life is gloomy, as is the weather here. I miss the days where I had time to just sit down and enjoy a good book or sketch a nice drawing. Speaking of which, when I was doing my drawing project last night, I had a small chat with my dad and realized that he actually doesn't know I'm majoring in Visual Arts. He thinks I'm doing something in computer animation (something I expressed interest in back in high school, but gave up now). I didn't correct him though, because I know he will have a fit if he finds out I chose VISA as my major. He's your typical Chinese parent who thinks accounting, pharmacy or hotel management is the road to success. Not like I care about what he thinks though, since I don't really talk to him anymore unless I have to.
I need food now...and sleep...lots and lots of sleep. |
